Capabilities Statement
To provide quality meals at different levels of cuisine, starting from fine dining to basic meals including onsite/mobile catering beginning with just 10 guests.
Adam’s Catering specialize in a broad range category of catering starting from onsite or mobile catering with numbers as little as ten- to five star dining major corporate events with numbers up to one thousand. Adam’s Catering focus on quality local produce that is fresh and cost effective. Our team of highly qualified chef’s has worked in reputable restaurants during the course of their careers. Each qualified chef employed has had experience in the catering field, which assists in both their position and our company.
To give an example of the numbers catered by Adam’s Catering, each year (since 2006), Adam’s Catering has travelled over one thousand kilometers to Karratha, to cater for a fundraising ball for the Pilbara Army Regiment. Numbers range from 600-800guests for a three course set meal. As the event is aimed at raising money, the food and entertainment etc sourced for the evening must be of a high standard to ensure the guests attend the next year’s event.
Because the standards of our meals are high, we retain the guests as clients and are referred on as our clients are always pleased with the outcome of food and presentation. This results in annual functions from our original client and new clients that have been referred.
Keeping a consistency to our level of food and service, we have learned that by keeping the status quo- meaning the high standards of food and service- we are keeping our clients and their guests happy.
To provide menus and meals that is suitable for multicultural diverse clients.
In today’s Australian society, we have a very large range of cultures. And with this comes the demand for specialized catering i.e. food made for a specific culture e.g. halal, French, Chinese fare etc. also multicultural themed menu so that companies employing a multicultural diverse staff, can meet, manage and promote this within their workplace. Many of today’s larger companies employ staff from different religions, countries and backgrounds. Should they choose to serve one or two specific types of meals e.g. Italian and Australian cuisine, they could be found discriminating towards other demographics. To avoid and problems arising, Adam’s Catering prepare menu’s to suit most cultures. Should there happen to be any discrepancies and special dietary requests made, we take all care to ensure these consumers are prepared special meals.
By ensuring we cater to special dietary requirements and making all of our menus and meals multicultural friendly we feel Adam’s Catering are making a positive statement through our food as we are catering to everyone’s religious and cultural needs.
Adam’s Catering employees are benefitted greatly by keeping our multicultural diverse menus. Not only do they have the opportunity to learn and create new dishes, but they feel satisfied knowing, that after a hard days work a good meal is something our clients and consumers look forward to. Also the client does not have to repeatedly ask for diverse menus, they do not have to feel anything is “too much” for our company and feel confident all meals served will be acceptable for guests and staff.
To recruit, employ and train indigenous staff to promote the Indigenous Employment Strategy.
Unemployment within the Aboriginal communities is a very serious problem. As the hospitality industry is the forefront representation for Australia, it is still an industry which remarkably, has not many ‘true’ Australians working within it, Aboriginals. In Western Australia there are only a handful of qualified or training to be qualified chefs.
Adam’s Catering has a small plan to help rectify this situation. With the combined effort of Aboriginal Employment Agencies, Adam’s Catering will endeavor to recruit and train a group of Aboriginal apprentice chef’s, kitchenhands and trainee waitstaff. By employing these potential employee’s, Adam’s Catering will be promoting the Aboriginal Work Strategy.
Adam’s Catering already employs a multicultural team of staff. We know that any Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders employed by us, will feel comfortable within our working environment. Since learning of this work strategy, Adam’s Catering had found numerous agencies willing to help us find suitable trainees and apprentices to expand and develop in our industry.
To use and promote produce and suppliers that are locally sourced.
A known worry within towns closely located to mine-sites, is that they may or may not receive and local business or community support. Adam’s Catering is very pro ‘local’ products and suppliers where possible, as we understand that they usually have the freshest produce. Adam’s Catering plan to use such businesses as bakeries, fruit and vegetable grocers and butchers, should they be able to supply and produce quality ingredients we can readily use. We would prefer in these cases to use local fresh produce as it is preferable than transporting it from Geraldton.
By using local suppliers, Adam’s Catering can keep local businesses and communities happy and busy throughout the year contributing to their economic growth.
To Implement safe and hygienic work practices and quality control.
In the food industry a major focus is workplace hygiene and safe work practices. A kitchen can become a dangerous place for both staff and consumers should proper care not be executed. Rigorous training schedules need to be in place and used in order to work safely.
Adam’s Catering regularly contact both Worksafe and the local health department, to help keep staff on track in these areas. It can become quite easy to ‘slack off’ in any job, but in a kitchen it can have serious repercussions. Poor hygiene practices are strictly unacceptable due to cross contamination and bacteria and germs being present, making consumers ill with food poisoning. Any unsafe work practices are also deemed strictly unacceptable as staff are constantly working with extremely sharp tools and hot food items. Any potential hazards are assessed and reported and any potential risks solved before a problem occurs. Log books are kept on all sites and all staff are encouraged to step back five by five.
Intense educational induction programs are undertaken by all staff. Videos and booklets are handed out before any employee begins work for Adam’s Catering. After the induction program, all employees are reviewed and signed off in these areas. By educating our staff properly, we keep a happy accident free workplace.
Our employees have all commented on having learnt something new after undergoing this program and take very seriously workplace safety and hygiene practices.
Strict no tolerance to drugs and alcohol within the workplace.
Drugs and alcohol are common problems within the hospitality industry. As we work closely with alcohol in our everyday job roles and it is readily available, we realize the potential hazard it is having easy access to it.
In our industry it does not matter how hard a person’s day is or was, or what our staff got up to in their personal time overnight, Adam’s Catering has a strict no tolerance to alcohol and drugs. Any staff member caught coming to work under the influence of either substance will be immediately dealt with as this is a dismissible offence under our award. Random and regular testing can and will be carried out by Adam’s Catering- unless our contractor wishes to undertake this procedure keeping up with any regulations they may have in place.
As drug and alcohol intolerance are part of our induction routine, Adam’s Catering staff know and understand the repercussions of their actions should they come to work under the influence of any substance.
The ability to produce quality food at mass production.
Catering for numbers that go into the hundreds can be daunting. With an experienced executive chef on hand, keeping a sharp eye on our team of staff and keeping good time management, kitchens tend to run smoothly.
Adam himself has over twenty years experience in being a highly reputable chef. Adam also has previous experience in working offshore on support vessels for oil rigs, so knows what is expected in the role of caterer in the like fields. Adam’s Catering has a fully supportive team of chef’s who look to Adam for leadership and support him in his role by giving him 110% on each shift.
It is part of our current business position, we successfully cater and co-ordinate up to three events successfully each night. Bulk preparations are done at our main premises in Chapman Road to then be distributed to the three locations for the nights work. From there three qualified chefs will finalize meals ready for clients. Our premise on Chapman Road has three separate kitchens fully equipped for catering. Our staff finding that using them as a production line makes mass preparation easier.
The ability to travel to remote locations pre-prepared or cater on site.
Having the ability to cater outside of our city is a common question we receive at Adam’s Catering. As mobile caterers we have the ability to cater anywhere with a kitchen. To allow this we have two viable options. We can bulk prepare all food on our Chapman Road premise or we can prepare and cater on site. When Adam’s Catering are contracted to cater in remote locations, we are happy to lease a kitchen onsite to do preparations and serve meals. An individual feasibility assessment is carried out with each location to best prepare our staff in regards to equipment required, distance and travel times. Adam’s Catering will purchase any additional equipment that may be required to assist us in our position. The equipment will remain the property of Adam’s Catering
